Special Features:
This is a 1990 GT Outpost it was imported from the USA by Caratti of Bristol (The exclusive GT distributors in the UK back in 1990). It features the unique GT Triple Triangle design frame made from Tange MTB Cr MO. It is equipped with Suntour, Diacompe and Sakae components.

If you're looking for a reliable all purpose bike, you will not go wrong with this. Not a mountain bike, GT described this as an All Terra ie suitable for road, rough trails and adaptable to your everday needs; racks mudguards etc can be easily added to make a great daily commuter.

The "Triple Triangle" frame design makes the frame very responsive and agile, there is no flexing around the bottom bracket. The frame is built from Tange Tubing, this is highly regarded by retro bike fans...it is every bit as good as Reynolds or Columbus tubing. The frame is a little marked from 23 years of use, but nothing unusual and much better condition than you would expect.

Gear shifters and deraillers are by Suntour. The Accushift X-press shifters are brilliant to use...they have a built in "lash" allowing up shifts to be held for the precise moment the shift is needed. The downshift can be done in indexed stages (ie one gear at a time) or can be shifted from high to low in one smooth action...perfect for sudden changes in gradient. Don't confuse these shifters with inferior copies of the Eezee-fire/rapid shift variety these are class and (obviously) built to last more than 5 minutes.
The chainrings are by Sakae...1990 was the time when Sakae chainrings were considered to be the best available to mountain bikers. The freewheel is a Shimano hyperglide 7 speed and shows little sign of wear.

The back brake is a G-Star U-brake...these are popular on BMX set-ups because of their progressive braking effect. The front brake is a V-brake which has been carefully set-up to work with the Diacompe long pull levers (originally a straddle wire canti-brake was fitted, but this was the really old style that could not be centred accurately...this is available for the buyer who wants to retain originality).

The wheels are standard 26", tyres are by Duro (GT own brand) and Schwalbe (Mountaineer II).

All cables, bearings (including bottom bracket) are new, the bike has been stripped down and completely rebuilt. It has a brand new bottom bracket, I have replaced the old style adjustable with a cartridge type (this is a VP aluminium unit not plastic!)

Overall this is a great bike, it is ready to ride and is beautifully smooth.

Any inspection is welcome.
